I have put years of my life into this dream. I dropped out of university and I quit my job where I spent my time building software for mining companies. We ate rice and beans to save money for the bills, and at times I wanted to give up. Whether you call it stubbornness or faith, we are here now.

When I was young, I believed two things. One was conceited: I believed I was destined to change the world. Paradoxically, the other was a resignation that the world was enormous, unforgiving and it could only be changed by powerful people, geniuses and politicians.

I was wrong on both accounts.

One: nobody is "destined" to create change. It can come from anywhere.

Two: change doesn't happen on such cosmic scales. In the same way that our lives consist of countless individual moments in time, change consists of a series of conscious attempts to make the right choices in pursuit of the outcome that we want.

It is rare that anyone has the platform to put their life's work on display, and to hear even a single person say yes, I see the value in what you're doing. This response alone is meaningful because with it comes the permission to believe: I am making the right choices, and the implication: I can change the world.

It is only with your help that we have carved out a little piece of the world to try and change it for the better. At the end of the day, Flashback is just a camera. But for me, it is a lot more, and I hope it can be the same for you.

We've never met, but I'm speaking to you. Seriously - thank you.

Time to choose your colour!

Please check your email or Kickstarter notifications for a survey.  It will ask you to choose the colour for your camera(s) and provide your shipping address.

If you're expecting your address to change during August or September, please let us know. We will make a note on the order to double check the address with you before we send it out.

Any payment problems?

Kickstarter has already started collecting funds. If the payment for your pledge fails for any reason, you will receive a notification from Kickstarter. If your card has expired or failed for another reason, you are able to update your card details and try it again.

We've had reports that updating payment details through the Kickstarter mobile app doesn't seem to trigger a retry of the payment right away. If you've encountered any issues, please consider logging into the Kickstarter website instead.

There is a 7-day grace period for payments. Kickstarter will retry whichever card is on file at the end of that time, but if it fails again then your pledge will be removed from the project. This is how Kickstarter's system works and we won't be able to add it again!

If you haven't received any notifications from Kickstarter, don't worry - no further information is needed to process your payment.

What's next?

Once everyone's colour choice is finalised, we can get set up for production. We'll be posting more updates here, but there is also regular content posted on our Instagram page.

Stretch Goal Unlocked

Holy smokes, we've just unlocked another stretch goal! I'm excited to announce that we will be adding a new feature to the app—an option to include a date stamp on your film roll. This will allow you to capture and remember the exact date of those precious moments.

Don't worry, this is optional, so if you prefer a clean look, simply don't tick the box, and no date will be added! Please note that we won't be implementing this feature for the launch. Our primary focus is to ensure the timely delivery of the camera to you before we start adding extras. However, you can most likely expect this feature to be available before Christmas.

Update 

The whole team is currently working tirelessly to make progress on multiple fronts. We are making good headway on the app, finalzing our accessories, and making necessary adjustments to our packaging to ensure the utmost protection for the camera during the shipping process. 

New Stretch Goal

I never thought we would get as far as 4 stretch goals, so here is a very special one! Printing! 

Keeping with the retro times we thought you might like to print your photos! Something about holding an old school physical print and then sticking it in a scrap book or up on the wall, just feels right. To make this possible, we have devised a plan to incorporate a printing feature in the app. By simply clicking a button and paying a small printing fee, you'll be able to have your entire roll of photos printed and conveniently delivered to your doorstep. Implementing this feature is no small task, but with your support, we aim to reach a goal of 5000 backers. Let's make it happen together!

Accessories - FAQ

If you'd like to include a camera case or lanyard with your order, don't worry—it's not too late. You can easily edit your order and add any accessories you desire through your Kickstarter account. Additionally, if you know someone who has been considering pledging, now is the perfect time to remind them. We are rapidly approaching the end of our campaign with only 54 hours remaining.

I am truly overwhelmed by the tremendous support we have received in such a short span of time. It's a dream come true to witness the love and enthusiasm for our project. Thank you once again for your incredible support!

Hey FLASHBACK FAMILY!!! Just wanted to jump on and let you know there is only one week left of our Kickstarter, so if you haven't purchased a camera yet make sure to grab one whilst you still can.

Hey everyone! Firstly, I love each and everyone one of you! THANK YOU FLASHBACK FAMILY for making this dream become a reality. 

As Tim mentioned yesterday we have hit our second major stretch goal and are now working towards our third! I managed to get a cheeky photo of us all collaborating so you can see just how "intensely" we work ;D

Let's keep this train rolling and grow this community as large as we can - spread the word to your family, friends, dog-walker, mailman, aunt's cousin, sister's boyfriend, anyone you can think of!

Hey everyone, just wanted to put out an update for you all. It honestly feels like a dream. To hit over $500,000 with 3400 active backers and still have 13 days left! WOW.

As two young guys with a dream, we never could have imagined how many of you would support us. We are so grateful for every single one of you that has helped back this project thus far.

In light of this, we have reached our 2nd major stretcher goal, meaning the cameras will now have a self-timer feature! This is solely credited to you all. We are still focusing on getting the cameras out with the self-timer feature being implemented before Christmas.
